The Challenge

Having successfully grown from a sole trader to a trusted main contractor, A Mann Building Contractors needed a new brand to reflect where the business had got to – and where it was going. Additionally, it needed to raise awareness of the new brand among key commercial audiences to support its ambitions to shift from its domestic client base.

The strategy

We started with a comprehensive brand redevelopment to provide the business with the right platform for attracting higher-value domestic clients and to enable it to compete successfully for large commercial projects. The new brand was rolled out across a new website, with fresh messaging to communicate the brand values and support the business ambitions.

We then devised and implemented a multi-layered marketing and PR strategy to raise brand awareness and engagement among target audiences, including: thought leadership and PR; digital, social and video marketing; SEO; award applications and sponsorships; and offline marketing, including marketing collateral and construction exhibitions.

The outcome

Thought leadership built around the key messaging of ‘Bringing clarity to construction’ enabled the business to stand out in a sector plagued by cowboys and poor customer experiences. Supported by video marketing, the founder’s personal brand was promoted alongside the corporate reputation, gaining recognition for challenging the sector on everything from empowering customers to its poor track record on mental health.

The business was repositioned from domestic to commercial customers, developing beneficial industry partnerships with ideal target clients and successfully winning large commercial and public-sector contracts.
